The force heeded to burn out a coil will vary. In terms of voltage, the Impulse Tester applies almost the same voltage as an AC Hipot Tester. By applying short duration pulses, the energy is far less and does not damage the test coils. Conduct the pinhole test or a similar test in advance to make sure the coils have not deteriorated as a result of applying voltage on the kV order.
